Fostering and maintaining tradition is very important for South Tyrol’s Vinschgau and all year round various events rich in tradition are held. Carnival and St. Nicholas’ Day processions and the famous Christmas fair of Glurns in winter. In summer, the band plays and the “Geißelschnöller” show what they can do by cracking their whips. There are local specialities such as apple fritters and so on. Of historical interest are Schloss Churburg with the largest collection of arms in Europe, Kloster Marienberg and Glurns, the smallest town in Italy with its medieval buildings and town walls.
