King of the Alpine passes

The Stelvio Pass with its 2757 m is the highest pass in Italy and the second highest asphalted pass in the Alps. The route has been constructed between 1820 and 1826 for military strategic purposes.

Today the route is a tourist attraction. With its 48 numbered hairpin bends, a length of 24.5 km from Prato allo Stelvio and an altitude difference of 1844 m the Stelvio Pass is considered a highlight among cyclists.

Another highlight is the gold sea path from the Stelvio Pass to the Furkelhütte – it is definitely an experience which should not be missed.

For security reasons, during the winter months the road from Trafoi remains closed and there is no road clearance. In summer the Stelvio Pass is a popular summer ski area.
